Recomendation for a Tunnel coach in Co. for a NooB

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I am going to be in Denver Dec. 17-18th. I would like to do some tunnel time. My goal for the tunnel time is to accelerate my learning curve to fly with others. (not so good right now)
So I was thinking, (budget permitting) probably 15-30 minutes with a coach.

I am hoping some of you can answer some basic Q's;

1 Would said tunnel time really help a novice with my experience level?

2 How much time should I be looking at?

3 Who is a good coach @ Skyventure/Co. that would work with that would really help me with my goals?

Thanks,

Doug.

Everyone else knows, but you call yourself a NooB so for your sake, I'll give you the caveat that I'm biased. :)

YES, the time would be well worth it and you can't go wrong with our instructors. Talk to the tunnel about getting coached time and find out what the instructors' coaching rates are. I'm not sure if this is available to you if you've never flown in the tunnel at all--but I would strongly suggest asking, anyway!

Ask for Dan perry or Rusty

I don't the others, but Rusty is clearly an open class 4-way level flyer and my coach in my 2nd camp (also the first guy to work with my daughter in the tunnel). He's fantastic.

Doug - An hour and half camp spread over 2 days is great.

you didn't say what your goals are (RW, freefly, what? - either way Rusty is great at these and I've seen some of the others at CO, they are too).

hire the coach separately to focus only on you or one other person in the same camp with you.

As someone with as few jumps as you have, an organized Airspeed type training progression is just the thing.

Thanks all for you replies, and PM's!

For now I am looking at RW, but shortly I will be trying some freeflying.

Again, thanks for the replies.
I better start doing some PM'ing to set it up.

Thanks,

Doug.

With 56 jumps and no tunnel experience, you will find that every tunnel instructor at SVCO will be a great coach for you. They will all listen to you and help you towards your goals (this is not necessarily true of other wind tunnels I've been in, but it is definitely true at SVCO - their instructor staff is terrific). The best thing you can do is commit the time - an hour will get you a LONG way at your level.

Last I checked, there were some great deals on coached time - there's no reason to not have it coached.

I whole heartedly agree that everyone there will be well qualified to help you with what you want to achieve. I've flown with Matt, Dan, and Derek and all were great and I learned so much from all three it's ridiculous. Remember to have fun, shouldn't be hard though!
Less talking, more flying.
