I have a swiss army knife with a small pointy ended set of scissors, and I carefully get one blade under the band and snip; usually it takes 3-5 snips, as I want to be sure I'm not snipping or otherwise damaging the cloth loop. And FWIW, I retrieve my knife from my gear bag when needed, and then immediately return it before continuing to pack. YMMV if it breaks just above the knot, then try to spread the cloth loop on the bag, it usually springs right off then. There is no need for anything other than your hands and fingers for this. cavscout73 0 #30 April 18, 2013 I always have a mini flat head screwdriver for removibg broken bands. I have tried bare hands, pull up cords etc. I find my screwdriver the best, and I always put it into my kit before moving on with the pack job. Never a worry about losing tools in the pack..
