And what Significant Moment in competitive skydiving is represented by this work of art?

The "Ten High" part might indicate the Ten High Bunch from Z-Hills of '72, '73 & '74. Also Himalayan Rope Company of '74 who may have been a little more adventurous. I seem to remember a brief time when DC-3s were new to jumpers and people were trying to take full advantage of all the various access hatches. The cargo hatch behind the door created more problems than it was worth but it seemed like a good idea at the time.
But the mountains in the background would suggest some where out west.
Other than just running off at the keyboard, maybe it will spark some one elses memory.

niki - you started well, then headed off in the wrong direction. Hoop

Jim, it's funny but you're not the first person to tell me that.
The Historic Event seems to have been lost along the way. I'm thinking that the first 10 Way Nationals is what Howard is getting at. (Or was it the first 10 Man Nationals) :)

Mr. Hooper has authorized me to provide the following narrative explanation (which is more or less supported by the magazine articles about the event, the '72 Nationals at Tahlequah.)
-----
The day before the very first 10-man Nationals started, the base element dragged me away from potential spies.
Them (conspiratorially): "We can take a three man out the door."
Me: "What?"
Them: "Shhhh. Yeah. Fog will swing out aft of the door and..."
Me: "What?”
Them: "...and Rumpson will back out, with Maznio holding on inside..."
Me: "What?"
Them: "...and they'll go out already hooked up with Fog hanging on and then he’ll just do a grip change and they’ll open into a three man."
Me (exasperated by their tenuous grasp on reality): “What? No way.”
Them (looking mutinous): “We want to try it.”
Me (utterly unconvinced): "Okay, okay, we'll give it one try. But if it doesn't work, that’s it, we stick with what we've been doing. Jesus! How the hell can Fog hold on out there?"
“Shhhh, dammit.”
And on the next practice jump they did it. While on the ground...gasp, choke, and shrieks of protests to Chief Judge Garrison from everyone except Jerry Bird's All Stars. "Nothing against it in the rules," the imperturbable Skratch shrugged from his unenviable position.
"Grump, grump, grump," they all said grumpily. And then decided to try it themselves.
