JerryBaumchen 1,064 #2 September 4, 2007 Hi howard, Can't see much of it but I'll take a WAG; a Viking? Probably going to ruin my run of good guesses, huh? Jerry
darkwing 4 #3 September 4, 2007 I don't remember a canopy with a stock round-hole slider. From the photo I'd say circa 1980. Viking? I think it isn't a Unit. -- Jeff My Skydiving History
howardwhite 5 #4 September 5, 2007 Well, I don't see a bag. I see the pilot chute attached directly to the canopy. Did Vikings do that? HW

The only canopies that did that 'I think' were Gargano designs that used a diaper. Gettin' closer? It's a GQ Security X210 R (D) reserve, with tail-mounted diaper. Lines were stored on the diaper. Security offered the same canopy with "lightweight D-bag with assistor pocket and separable 2" wide, 1750 lb.t.s.bridle." Picture from ad in December, 1982 Parachutist. I posted it because of the diaper bit. Although the hole in the slider should have been a clue. I saw the direct attachment, and assumed it was diapered. A lot of people did retro-fit diapers on a variety of square mains. Also--from the photo I can't tell if the lines are cascaded or not. -- Jeff My Skydiving History
 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
