Recommended Posts

A while back i heard of one possibly opening up near Deep Creek Lake, that's far western Md, but I don't know whatever happened to that idea.

I saw a website for a new tandem factory that opened up right across the bay. Don't think that counts as a drop zone though.

Still, the closest dz to baltimore is Maytown Sport Parachute Club (Pennsylvania)

The OP was not referring to the tandem factory just across the bridge. The question of a new MD dz was brought up because someone at our dz was contacted by a guy on myspace saying he was going to be opening a new MD dz sometime later this summer. Besides that, we really have little to no information about it. Anyone have anymore info on this?

Yes, Maytown is closest to Baltimore, just as Delmarva is closest to Annapolis.

I had to go down to central VA to do my AFF several years ago. I lived in Columbia. They is just not a turbine DZ inside of 1.5 hrs driving time.

Would be great to see one open in MD.

What is the interest level from local skydivers, instructors, and potential staff?

What about a club concept? Like Orange?

I think with such little information it is hard to form opinions at this point.

The Skydivin' Place is actually closest to maryland just about an hour from the harbor. www.skydivepa-md.com. However I would love to know about a belair DZ as I live in baltimore county about 20 minutes or less from belair since I am on the east side! If you are planning on opening one, let me know and I would love to help!
