    Paypal or not?

Been a long time since I've needed it, but do people still use Paypal? I've heard several horror stories that lead me to believe that its not the way to go anymore, but has there been any changes in the way they handle things? Or are there better alternatives? I'm selling some gear and want to do it right. If you have some relevant insight, please post. I'd rather not have this turn into a complaint thread, I really don't have the time to read through all the bs. Thanks. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"
  2. Two girls here...so far. 3 yrs old, and 5 months old. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"
  3. Would a policy written for a skydiver likely be written as "standard" even if you would otherwise fall into the "preferred or premium" category? I'm talking about the policy in general here, not the rating. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"
  4. Farmer's; $5.00 per thousand of coverage per year, on top of premium for base coverage. That $5.00 is a flat rate that applies to all policies rated for skydiving that Farmer's writes, from what I understand. I was in the process of getting a policy through a discount broker online, when I talked to a Farmer's agent. As someone said earlier, great face time and customer service, made the whole process much more comfortable than the discount online broker with the better price. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"
  5. Thanks, but from what you've described I don't see the relation between that problem and the SB...I must be missing something, right? I'll get mine out when I get home to try to make sense of it. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"
  6. I made mine similar to the Pat Works type, and I used 1/4 inch clear polycarbonate. It is quite stiff, and would take a hell of a lot to break it. I've had it on for a little while and I'm still on the fence about it. I'll probably make a thinner one someday. But I really like the that its clear, not only does it look pretty cool, but I can see my reserve handle through it. I'll post a pic when I get a chance. Edit:..... Take a look at the one for sale in the classifieds and notice how much room there is between the bottom of the mud flap and where the mount turns a 90 to the horizontal position. You want to make sure that you have no slack room there, otherwise your mount can slide up and the top "hook" piece can interfere with the three-ring assembly, preventing a cutaway. It also says that it can fit any rig...not true, mud flaps are different and for this reason you really ought to custom make it unless you're buying something adjustable. I made three before I had it the right size where it wouldn't/couldn't move. Remember that the mud flap material will move around and distort some, so even though it may look like its a tight fit, give it tug and see what happens. I have a Wings container where the flaps are angled on the bottom, so this issue was pretty exaggerated on mine. Anyway, just my $.02. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"
  7. line was caught under the mid-flap plastic stiffener I'm trying to imagine how that could happen and I can't. Can someone elaborate?Quote _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"
  8. I have a custom fit wings, and if you're describing what I think you are, then mine does the same thing when standing up straight. But it flattens out when I flex my hip a little. I've had mine for two years or so, and haven't had any issues with it, in fact I didn't even think it was an issue. $.02 _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"
  9. Do you have kids? That's when those thoughts get really scarey, and "self" never comes to mind. I've never had them in the plane, but have at home a time or two. But no sweat, it goes away just as quick as it did for you. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"
  10. What I did when ordeing mine, different manufacturer, is copy the image from the order form to Microsoft Paint. I made a bunch of copies, and laid them out side by side and went to town. I found this beneficial as you could see similar schemes next to eachother for comparison. I'm currently doing the same thing for a new suit as well. Paint is a pain in the a$$, but I'm sure there is a better program out there to accomplish the same thing. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"
  11. I have had this problem with my Wings. Only happens on one leg stap, and it only slips an inch or so when slow, moderate tension is put on it. It doesn't slip when fully loaded, or during quick and heavy tension, like opening shock. I didn't feel it was enough of a problem to ground my rig, i just double check them just before I hit the door, but I do plan on contacting wings this winter to have it taken care of. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"
  12. $1050 USD High Performance Research/Nitro 150 May '04 ~100 ~100 1 No/No/No So...what's the "really cool reason" for this? _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"
  13. I did my AFF and first 40-50 jumps there around this time of year, and from what I understood, the winds are different at other times. But when I was there, during the early morning and prior to noonish, the winds were pretty steady from either east or west. If they happened to be from the north (?) they would land at the other end of the runway, although it was a B license or higher thing so I never did. Pretty much everyday around noon-2 pm the winds would shift from the south and all operations shut down, as the North Shore was only a couple hundred feet beyond the north side of the dz. I learned there, so the winds didn't bother me. I didn't know any better anyhow. But now I can see how some might think they're really bad if you haven't been exposed to winds like that before. From what I remember, they seemed to me to be quite predictable, which was comforting. Anyway...that's my 2 cents. Oh yeah, one more thing...when I was there, and this was 6 years ago, PISC did an "early bird" load which they manifested the day before and it took off just after sunrise. I got on every one I could, absolutely awesome views, you could see some of the other islands silhouetted by the sunrise. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"
  14. After my first 40-50 jumps, which took a couple months, I relocated, started a new job, part-time school, and met who is now my wife. All this within the same month or two. That was the start of my layoff. I spent the next two years making 2 jumps total, both recurrency jumps as separate attempts at coming back, but it didn't happen. Skydiving was basically forced to become secondary. After a while when everything else settled and became more stable I made a reasonable committment to myself to get at least one day a month at the dz no matter what. I had to really work at budgeting time and money, but it was the only way to ensure that I kept something for myself while starting a new family...I had already sold my Harley. To this day, my once a month is what I do. I wish I could do more, but its far better than my other options. Today, extra time at the dz is my bargaining tool for dealing with things like vacations, and new furniture. If you're as passionate about being in the air as I am, you ought to be able to set yourself a realistic goal and hold yourself to it. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"
