Where to jump in Oz?

Recommended Posts

I'm having a holiday in Oz in May next year, and taking my gear with me. I'll be in Brisbane for two weeks, so was wondering which DZ in that part of the world (Byron Bay to Hervey Bay) would give me the warmest welcome and the best chance of jumping my arse off and having fun. Who's had good experiences there?

Ramblers in Toogoolawah is a top DZ. Great facilities (shaded packing area, canteen, pool, clean). They have accommodation on-site, though I haven't stayed there (booked out) so I can't comment. Went there for a boogie awhile ago and everyone was friendly and the planes were great. Have fun!

Skydive Ramblers, located near the township of Toogoolawah, would definitely be the choice of DropZones in the Brisbane region if you are looking at jumping your arse off. They are the largest DZ in the area and operate three Cessna Caravans but one is normally permanently at Byron Bay. Occassionally they will fly two ship loads on weekends. The jump crowd is awesome.

Skydive Bryon Bay is good but doesn't have the facilities that can be found at Ramblers however the township of Bryon Bay is awesome as it is the backpacker/tourist mecca of Oz. Awesome surfing too!!

There are a number of smaller DZ's in the Brisbane region. A personal favourite of mine is the Brisbane Skydiving Centre, near the town of Willowbank, that operate two C-182's. Really great DZ crowd and friendly to boot.

Hope you have an absolute blast DownUnder.
