Bridlington DZ (UK)

Recommended Posts

Hello all.
This is my first post to this forum, so be nice with me.

My name is Blair Stent, and I am the new owner of BritishSkySports Parachute Centre in the UK.

I have only been jumping since 2002 and have around 600 jumps, I had worked at Bridlington DZ for the summer as a cameraman doing video work, which went really well.

The old CCI (Nick Johnston) wanted a break from being the owner and CCI and has now left. He is now the CCI and Pilot at Langar Drop Zone, which is further South of here.
Nick still comes up here several times a month, to visit, jump and sometimes fly, so to all of you who know Nick: Don't worry, he still visits.

The new CCI is George McGuiness, and with the assistance of his wife Geraldine they have single handedly turned the centre around.
Geraldine blitzed the office, and now we can actually find the things we want, and most things have a home, instead of shared accommodation on the desk.

Changes that jumpers will like include a bunkhouse, with a fitted TV & DVD, comfy chairs and general chill out area. We have Barbecue nights as well (on arrangement).
Geraldine is an advanced packer (reserves) and runs packing courses, shows how to maintain kit 'properly' (much to the shame of many jumpers and the odd instructor)

There has also been a big tidy up, lots of little things have been put right.
George put up a WEATHER STONE, it shows you exactly what the weather is doing (you have to see it to understand it)

There is a celebration of the new ownership starting the weekend of the 25th November. The Saturday night ought to be fun, as it's two of our members 18th Birthday parties. A FREE buffet will be laid out, plenty of music, the bar will be open, and best of all there will be a fancy dress for that night. (The Birthday girls are going to be in playboy bunny costumes)
From the 25th November until the 5th December there will be a Cessna Grand Caravan for those busy weekends, so we will finally get to go above the usual 10,000ft, giving plenty of altitude.

We look forward to seeing many more people returning to Brid, and hope to see lots more new faces in the future as well.

Good luck.

I did my Adv Cse there last year and had a great time.

Tell George and Geraldine I said hi, I met them when I did my tandem rating this year. They are a really nice couple and I am sure they will bring the place on a treat.

I may come and visit when I return to the UK to become a civvy (do you need any Inst/TI's :-) )

Those of you that havent been to Brid it is well worth a visit, the view from altitude it breathtaking, Englands very own Costa Brava as Dave Walker would say.

Is Dave still there??

Again Good Luck

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
