SkymonkeyONE 3 #29 September 5, 2003 Updates: There is a new GK facility at Laurenburg Maxton now, so my original post about the lack of overhead cover is flawed. The new building/hangar is airconditioned and heated and has bathrooms. For those of you who are actually familiar with the airport: from the old GK covered pavillion thing on the far side of the airport near the golf ball factory, the new building is way over to the left, where the "aircraft graveyard" is located. From the FBO, it's way over to the right off the old "inactive" runway that the GK's normally use. Food, as I was told yesterday, will be on sale by the "GK wives association". The main reason for the move, as I was told yesterday by the SGM of the team, was that they wanted to use the Fokkers for the meet. There is supposedly not enough runway at Raeford to effectively use them there. Odd, as there have been C-130's use Raeford with no problem. Either way, I am just happy to hear that there is a suitable marshalling and packing area. SGM DeVault will be getting back in touch with me today to confirm whether or not guardsmen and reservists will be able to attend. Chuck

SkymonkeyONE 3 #33 October 3, 2003 Reservists and guardsmen on active duty orders (drill orders are fine) may attend. Just having a pink ID card will not get you on the plane; you must be on orders. Chuck
