RoadRash 0 #2 December 7, 2003 My club has a yearly trip down to the wind tunnel at Pigeon Forge. In terms of what you wear, it is "normal gear" in the sense that you wear a Protec and a big ass suit that we have dubbed the "Michellin Man" look. The air is ok, but not great. Don't expect to do any major maneuvers unless you have spent a significant amount of time in there. You will probably be on your belly most of the time. I'm not too sure how the coaching is. We usually had coaching from a guy who had his rating in the club. Hope this helps!!! ltdiver 3 #5 December 7, 2003 The wind tunnels in both TN and NV (Las Vegas) have about as much appeal to a skydiver as chewing gum. Oh, sure, they're o.k. for wuffos and those who want to play, but don't plan on any kind of meaningful training at either place. You -do- wear a very large jumpsuit that takes away your manueverability, and the airflow is choppy, slow and shaped like a dome. Every skydiver's advice would be to spend your money at a location that will reap rewards in a more beneficial way. Check out SkyVenture. VectorBoy 0 #6 December 7, 2003 From my experience in the vegas tunnel it was nothing like being in real air. It has a very small high pressure collumn or bubble and the farther you get out and away from it the weaker and more turbulent the airflow. And they treat wuffos ( their bread and butter ) better than skydivers. Perris skyventure stole the best thing about that tunnel..... Their instructor Mary. They're useful to a dregree as a training aid, but they're far surpassed by the ones in Perris and Orlando. They are tons of fun...
