Can't keep stable in freefall

The only bad habit you'll learn in a wind tunnel is lack of altitude awareness.
That's easily overcome, plus, wind tunnels are fun and you can go on a rainy day.

Cant do exits
cant track
cant deploy, do EPs, or control canopy
Can's see changing altitude or get more spatially aware

thats about all you can NOT do.

But you can get comfortable with body position
practice turns, docks, slides
and try to gain some muscle memory

And I have to agree... rainy/windy days... there is nothing better :)

just my 2 cents

I I think the tunnel definitely helped with a lot of "where is my body" awareness and learning control, which allowed me to concentrate on other aspects of the skydives.

That is it exactly. The better the training and practice, the easir it is and the more awareness you have for altitude, etc. No better training than in a wind tunnel.

My son was a tunnel instructor before he did AFF. His awareness was amazing.

all you need to do is learn to gel with the air. 2 mins under your belt is not going to get you gelling like Magellan. think about this when a sports team gets together even if they are the best of the best they have to learn to work together. well, you and air is the same thing. my instructor told me this and i stopped fighting for the right arch and let the air tell me the proper arch. it sound weird but as long as your limbs(even extra limbs ;P) are in the right area, loosen up and the wind will put you at a proper arch. from there just work on drop rate. worked for me. FYI i did AFF from a heli

He grew up a the DZ, packing since he was 10. Aviation degree from community college, working as an air traffic controller. I think maybe he's just comfortable with it all. :)
