riggerrob 558 #1 March 27, 2015 Here is another article about jump-planes that are older than their pilots. Have you ever looked at an airplane as a bauxite-based life-form? There is a good article in today's AvWeb about corrosion is slowly destroying the general aviation fleet.

FlyingRhenquest 1 #4 March 27, 2015 The guy 4 hangars down from Mile Hi has a biplane. He had it out last year, so I ambled on down and talked to him. He says it was built in 1929. http://ethyltheaardvark.deviantart.com/art/Biplane-Cockpit-461164573?q=gallery%3AEthylTheAardvark%2F30773488&qo=32 http://ethyltheaardvark.deviantart.com/art/Biplane-Front-461164134?q=gallery%3AEthylTheAardvark%2F30773488&qo=34 http://ethyltheaardvark.deviantart.com/art/Biplane-Other-Front-461164437?q=gallery%3AEthylTheAardvark%2F30773488&qo=33I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. mccurley 0 #5 March 28, 2015 That is almost a piece of art as much as an airplane. I'll bet it's lovingly cared for.Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI
jakee 1,257 #6 March 28, 2015 Point of order for the headline writer - aluminium doesn't rust. The rest is good though. Interesting to think how many jump planes would qualify for tax free classic status if they were cars. And also, just how rubbish most of the cars that were designed around the same time as our aircraft really are compared to current models.Do you want to have an ideagasm? Rickendiver 6 #7 March 29, 2015 I used to own a 1957 Mooney. Wood wing, wood tail. Never worried much about corrosion - But I was pretty wary about termites
