The teacher more than likely grabbed Arabic text off the internet probably without considering its meaning. Some drama queen mommy did what she does best, create drama. She went to her church and stood in front of a handful of people in her congregation and latched onto some ridiculous drama grasping at straws. There is no story here. Americans are not categorically stupid or ignorant because a news outlet finds 1 mad mommy and 1 student to go on camera.

One news outlet? I'm guessing it's every news outlet in the English speaking world and beyond by now. It's on the front of the web page of our local paper here in Winnipeg!

But I will agree that Americans are not categorically stupid or ignorant. Intolerance of others is widespread the world over, and Americans do have a reason to be extra intolerant at this time. And Canadians as well for that matter. It's up to all of us individually to fight against the hysteria and not let it get out of control.

Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

And around here you can hear calls to prayer several times a day. Many of the women are in burqas. Arabic sinage is pretty common, and no one much cares - so it looks like we need to get out more, because the media is reporting a world of butthurt that we've apparently been sheltered from.
