Study: Income Inequality Greater, Growing Faster in Blue States

So it seems Democrat polity keeps the poor just where they want them as uninformed voters

Maybe the wealthy, who can choose to live anywhere they please, prefer to live in blue states. (We know the poor and ignorant are concentrated in red states).

Ah
YOU moved the goal posts. I just followed along
Fact is Democratic control states show and increase in pay inequality more so than Republican control states
then you post some median pay bs

Also from the link YOU gave:

"the average worker actually tends to be better off financially in states with higher income gaps"

So everyone is better off in a Blue state!

YOU moved the goal posts.

So you think it possible to discuss income inequality without knowing about income?

You're weird.

Anyhow, the average worker is better off in a blue state. The poorest are better off in blue states. And the wealthiest are better off in blue states.

Thanks for pointing this out.

As you well know income is not a sole indicator

but
it suits your case

And of course you refused to include living costs as compared to income
So be it
either way it is a political lie by the Dems (your point) or blue state policies increase pay inequality
Which ever way you want it John

Your OP said nothing whatsoever about cost of living.

You picked a loser by starting this thread, and now you're trying to wriggle out of it.

The average worker is better off in a blue state. The poorest are better off in blue states. And the wealthiest are better off in blue states. Thanks again for pointing this out.

Great
then it also shows the Dems and the Obama admin are lying again

Yes, the article marc linked certainly did that. Thank you for pointing that out too.

The relevant facts are that according to data from the Census, the average worker is better off in a blue state. The poorest are better off in blue states. And the wealthiest are better off in blue states.

Don't like the data? Take it up with the Bureau of the Census.

As you appear to think I was taking sides, my comment WAS for both of you.

I like it when the two of you try to get down to the same level.

It's cute.

So from the actual study:

Quote

The ratio between the top 25th percentile and bottom 25th percentile incomes is greatest in Washington, D.C., where high incomes are 2.6 times low incomes. To put some actual numbers on that, high-income workers in D.C. earn $102,980 per year, while low-income workers earn $36,690. The gap is narrowest in South Dakota, where high incomes are 1.89 times low incomes. There, high-income workers earn $41,580, compared to $21,580 for low-income workers.

Clearly South Dakota is doing much better. There the top 25th percentile is barely above the 25th bottom percentile in Washington DC.

Marc, thought I would post some more from the study for you:

Quote

Median incomes, adjusted for the differing costs of living in different states, tend to be higher in states with the biggest gaps between high and low incomes. So, while upper-income people may be benefiting the most in those states, the average worker is also better off in those states than in places with smaller income gaps.

On the other hand, looking at changes over the past 10 years suggests this advantage may be fading. Median incomes have grown more slowly in states where the income gap has been increasing most quickly.

Ultimately, what these figures seem to suggest is that a reasonable degree of income inequality is actually good for a state's prosperity, but that if income inequality rises too quickly, it starts to leave the average worker behind.

I know, hard to believe some right wing nut-job website would completely misrepresent the study.
