Some actual Republicans: ============== [Huntsman] agrees with the new Republican orthodoxy that the half of American households no longer paying income tax – mainly working poor families and seniors – should be brought onto the income tax rolls. “Marco Rubio was right when he said we don’t have enough people paying taxes in this country,” he said, referring to the senator from Florida. (WSJ, 2011 - talking about a sentiment often echoed here.) ============== Republicans seek to add more in defense spending By Walter Pincus May 07, 2012 WaPo House Republicans on Monday spelled out some funding increases they are seeking in defense programs above the amounts President Obama requested in the fiscal 2013 Pentagon budget, including an additional $1 billion for Israeli anti-missile defense systems. ===============
Gravitymaster 0 #28 March 15, 2013 Shazaam....you mean some Republicans want people who currently pay no taxes to begin paying SOMETHING?.. Wow... How cruel to ask some Americans to pay their fair share. You do believe that everyone should pay their fair share don't you?
rushmc 18 #29 March 15, 2013 QuoteQuote they just want a Lot less spending and lower taxes on everyone. No one likes that at all. Just got back from sharing adult beverages with friends of mine in the business. Most Americans have no idea how to participate in a market based system. This is a serious issue. Wrong...Republicans want less spending and lower taxes for everyone. That's Libertarian, not Republican. Reps and Dems are both driven by social agendas that require a lot of spending on "their" favorite stuff. The target tax philosphies? I suspect you might be right. But the "less spending" item is bull for both parties. And both parties.....their spending agenda is WAY more important than any targeted or general tax reduction philosophy. The Tax philosophies are more that the Dems want only the rich to pay for everything, the Reps want everyone to pay for everything (and both want to eliminate taxes for their special friends rich or poor or whatever). And the Dems toe the "only the rich pay (and the middle class, but don't say it out loud please)" simply because it gets them votes, they'd also take every dime from the poor if they could. They have better PR people. Don't doubt, both parties would thrilled to take everything if they could figure out how to do it and stay in power at the same time. ...
