The only thing that falls from the sky is birdshit and fools!

kelpdiver 2 #3 May 30, 2012 HP is floundering. Aside from terrible management decisions over the past several years, it's facing the reality that people don't need to upgrade their personal computers as often as they used to. Or at all if they're the sort of user that gets their needs met by an ipad/android tablet. Those who merely consume content do not need the faster cpus and may only need a browser and a mail client, making the OS version irrelevant. An obvious consequence will be lost jobs at the company. Change may hurt, but it is not always bad. unfortunately, it takes a hell of a lot fewer people to write new browsers and email clients than it does to design, integrate, ship, and support physical computers. It's also not the same people - much more software and much less hardware and distribution work.
