Guns in Space

Recommended Posts

Low earth orbit, doesn't matter which direction you shoot, the bullet will re-enter (using something with current gun technology).

Shuttle deorbit burn was only ~76 m/s. Rule of thumb we use for ISS is ~1.76 km increase/decrease 180 degrees from an instantaneous 1.0 m/s burn.

And if you shoot straight ahead, adding to the orbital velocity?

Or are you referring to the drag in LEO that will eventually degrade the orbit regardless?

The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
