In your case referenced here, you were certainly wrong. Gun rights activists have little excuse for making up numbers when the facts and the law are decided on their side. Let the losers resort to such tactics - and call them out for it every time. Works better if the gun activists don't get caught pulling the same shit. As we noted then, “the time is at hand to seek means by which society can identify, treat and temporarily isolate such individuals,” because “elimination of the instrument by which these crimes are committed cannot arrest the ravages of a psychotic murderer.”[1] More recently, the NRA has supported legislation to ensure that appropriate records of those who have been judged mentally incompetent or involuntarily committed to mental institutions be made available for use in firearms transfer background checks. The NRA will support any reasonable step to fix America’s broken mental health system without intruding on the constitutional rights of Americans. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2012/12/21/the-nra-wants-an-active-mental-illness-database-thirty-eight-states-have-that-now/ QuoteThe NRA wants an ‘active’ mental illness database. Thirty-eight states have that now. http://www.cnn.com/2014/06/24/opinion/robbins-mental-health/ QuoteNext time there's a mass shooting, don't jump to blame the National Rifle Association and lax gun laws. Look first at the shooter and the mental health services he did or didn't get, and the commitment laws in the state where the shooting took place......Even the NRA agrees that the seriously mentally ill should never own a gun. So let's finally do something about it.
