Wearing clothes, or using heat to keep you warm is not in the same ballpark as skydiving.

You're painting yourself into a corner with your arguments.

Is it your contention that people can't do ANYTHING enjoyable (that uses energy) and still refer to themselves as environmentalists?

I never mentioned that one needs to keep their house at 75 F to stay warm, but in certain climates one does need heat to sustain life.

By your criteria - so have you. The difference is that I am willing to do something about it, because I think that's the right thing to do.

How do you know there is a difference. How do you know what I am willing to do to save energy. Please don't make assumptions when you don't even know me.

Also where in my post did you come up with the idea that training Navy SEALs is a waste of energy.

P.S. I apologize if it came across that I was calling you a hypocrite. That was not my intent.

Correct. One does NOT need to keep their houses at 75F, or to air condition their house in the summer. Those are luxuries. (And again, there is nothing wrong with luxuries - provided you obtain them sustainably.)

OK.

Didn't you say that jumping out of airplanes was a waste of energy?

Bill, do you honestly think that I'm lumping fun jumping, which is what I'm talking about, with a training program that incorporates jumping. If so then you are missing the point.

My point is and has been that if you jump for fun, then you are wasting energy that does not need to be wasted. It doesn't matter what one does in the rest of their life, during that time when you are jumping out of a plane, or rather riding up to altitude, you are wasting energy that doesn't need to be wasted.

Anyway, I'm going to back out of this exchange in the public fourm. I wlould be happy to talk to you more in pm. I would be very interested in learning more of your energy saving techniques that you employ as some of them seem very interesting.

Thanks for your time.

So when I am teaching military freefall or AFF, I am not 'wasting fuel'? How about when I am coaching, or organizing, or working as a plane captain for a bigway record attempt?

I think your definition of "waste" and mine are different.

I thought you were backing out of the discussion! THAT didn't last long.

Anyone that doesn't walk or bike to work is anti-environment, right?

Anyone that takes a plane for a cross country trip, instead of driving a Prius, is anti-environment, right?

yes and yes - we should all immediately go hide in a cave and starve to death as a world wide race. That would please the far fringe extremist wing of the enviro crowd.

And aren't we here to please the far fringe extremists of the world?

ask them, they'd say 'yes'

Your argument have thus far been poorly articulated and ill-defined, and you are thusly getting your ass kicked.

You may wish to follow your own advice.

(oh, and I see that you have) --> "Anyway, I'm going to back out of this exchange in the public fourm."

LOL
