If the owner wants it back then they have to pay you for it, depending on the amount of risk involved in its recovery depends on what they pay. For big companies that have insurance like BMW it is easier for them just to write it off and let you keep it. As far as i'm concerned this is just the Devon people carring on a long tradition of their cultural heritage.
