Yes, I've heard from another source that someone died from a main-reserve entanglement.:( I hate to start the speculation cycle so I'll leave the specifics to the eventual report. The person I heard it from is part of a group that regularly goes to Delmarva, so I'm almost positive that you're right. I wish I wasn't, though. >:(
My thoughts and prayers go out to the deceased's friends and immediate family; our extended family has just been reduced by one and that's one too many. Take care everyone.

EDIT: removed references to cause of entanglement.

My heart goes out to those who knew Peter. It is so sad to loose one of our family and we seem to be loosing them so quickly lately.
To Peter's friends and family....if there is anything any of us can do to help please let us know. I can honestly say that we have just been there and know how much you are hurting. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

It is believed that Pete was unable to extract the pilot chute from its pouch and was left with no other option but to cutaway and deploy his reserve parachute. The main canopy was held in the D-bag by one rubber band stow that contained some of the lines from the group. The reserve freebag did not completely clear the reserve and the bulk of the reserve canopy remained held in the freebag by one rubber band stow.

Talk about bad luck!:(
1) Horseshoe malfunction -main bag came out, but pilot chute was stuck
2) Main parachute locked in the bag by one rubber band stow
3)Reserve parachute partially trapped in the bag by one rubber band stow!
What are the odds of all that happening at once?

We all lose a little of our freedom and a bit of ourselves when one of our brothers or sisters goes in. We share a little of the pain but again and all to often my thoughts and prayers go out to those that Peter touched. Enev thought I did not know him my world is a little less bright today at his passing. Blue skys forever.
