Maksimsf 0 #1 August 27, 2012 Please correct me If I'm wrong. Wings TSO C23 D MEW 254lbs up to 150knts Vortex II TSO C23 D MEW 300lbs up to 150knts 2 similar TSO but different numbers, why is that? I'm 280lbs out the door, and seems like "budget" container that will be ok for me is only Vortex II? Altico Dolphin is 254lbs MEW too :(
JerryBaumchen 1,064 #2 August 27, 2012 Hi Maksimsf, Quote2 similar TSO but different numbers, why is that? Because in TSO C23d there are no maximum weights or speeds. There are minimum weights & speeds but the mfr gets to choose what maximums they want to certify to. It would seem to me that these two mfrs simply chose different weights/speeds to certify their gear to. Does that help? JerryBaumchen

RIGGER 0 #4 August 27, 2012 Javelin under FAA TSO C23 D = Max.E.W of 300 lb @ 170 Knots. Which reserve you looking for ? The system M.E.W will be by the LOWEST limits in the TSO'd parts of the system = if you put a PR 253 in that Javelin the M.E.W will be 254 lb. @ 150 knots. The M.E.W in the FAA TSO C23 D is based on the tests the Mfg. did & after a 1.2 SAFETY factor. Be Safe !!!
Maksimsf 0 #5 August 27, 2012 Most likely it will be either PDR 281 or Smart 250 - both are up to 300 lbs MEW I believe.
firemedic 7 #6 August 27, 2012 QuoteMost likely it will be either PDR 281 or Smart 250 - both are up to 300 lbs MEW I believe. Just want to add that the larger Angel Fire Reserves, 246, 280 and 300 are approved up to 330 lbs.
