Speed jumping?

Recommended Posts

I have been looking around after I saw a page in Parachutist of a man that did
340m.p.h.
I'm captivated by it like "FreeDiving" being Zen like.

Done it and WOW.. top speed of 253MPH and average of 204 for now... I just bought Pro Track number 2 and I need some other gear to do it again.. and I am thinking of competing... Need a good suit and a good helmet.. I will buy a Havok this winter..... When you go headdown and then go into the dive and stable out.. its AWSUM.. the feeling of just falling thru a barrier is hard to describe but you feel it...I talked with Kelly Farrington that this winter I wanted to get another rig that is 300MPH capable... and he told me my Infinity was already the rig for itB|

from Bobsled & Skeleton days,
I still have a suite "CCCP" from a Latvian Luge Coach who stayed down the Hall from me in the Lake Placid OTC.($40;))
I plan on using that and my new A3/Oxygen helmet.
Waiting on ProTract and new Vector3:)
I remember your statment of top speed from before and wondered if you were involved.

p.s. there is a nice little airpark at the "Horeshow grounds" right next to our dry-land sled-push track.;)

what about option "i compete and it scares me" ? B|

i decided to go slow this weekend. got stupidly low on one jump but got 84 seconds of delay.
i know, 1300 ft (see pic attached) is beyond low, won't do it again ...

the lowest speed was 85.89 mph. i did a couple more of track dives after that one and got
better average speed speed - 96 mph but not better then 86 on on the lowest.

stan.

p.s. i jumped tight all nylon tony RW suit with booties, the same i use for speed dives ...

What do you think about getting a speed meet at WFFC 2004?
Right before The proposed time(1-2 weeks) of the possible meet at your DZ.

A "Speed SKydiving" forum here?
That would be great!
....I think a request to Head Hancho= Sangrio
would be required.

no, i meant forum at http://speedskydiving.proboards19.com/

i don't think we have enough people interested in this discipline yet. there was a poll about
what new forums people wanted and speed skydiving was actually one of the choices.

I'm already there! My exit weight is over 200lbs.
Did a 4-way yesterday with a couple of light weights and shot through on the second pin. Ended up in a three way after the camera flyer and the inside centre went head down to meet me.

uh does it count if my head down is 209mph?

Excellent!
I if you enjoyed the speed then, it's a START!;)
I took interest to stronger thought after a 9-way averaged 201mph, from 4 different ProTracks on the jump. (we weren't "trying for speed" & that entertained greater thoughts:)-Grant

you left out the following choice in your poll: not scared of it, not interested in it.

For me, jumping is much more fun with other people involved.

Hell no! everybody can come too!
At 250+mph I could probably use a "group hug"
I have not done a "Speed-dive" yet(never gone over 201mph), and if you want to hold my hand while I do my 1st jump in my speed suit, I would feel better.:)

yeah.. that is one of the reasons I want to get a full face.... and still wear goggles underneath.... I was getting worried about the lenses in the goggles popping... at that speed.. and the soarz seemed to let in too much air around the edges...

Stan.. what do you use... hints??

I have done 254 on two occaisions. can't seem to get the goggles tight enough.

I didn't know anyone wore goggles while trying for speed.
My OYXGN A3 just arrived last week and I plan on taping the top of my face shield for noise/volume control. (still waiting for my ProTrack)
:|:|How do you hear your Audible Alti with an open face helmet at "254"( on ANY occasions)??

I have a Z-1 Evo.. open face... and I can hear the Protrack just fine... its internal in little pouches....right next to my ear.... BUT the helmet and goggles SUCK at 250 MPH... the helmet starts to lift off my forhead when looking at the ground .... hence my worrying about the lenses on the goggles as they seem to push in a bit.. the Soarz do a little better.... BUT.... they get too much air intrusion around the bridge of my nose. But I think the Havok will take care of that problem.. BUT I will still wear a set of goggles underneath.. just in case the faceplate ever blew out....

The competition states you have to have the Pro Tracks mounted on the main lift web.. near center mass....and there is no way you could hear them in that position.
