ladyhawke 0 #1 March 3, 2008 Saturday my Neptune went bizerk on me on the climb up to altitude and got worse during freefall! Because of practicing "look at my altimeter, look at the ground" on my solo jumps, I was able to confidently pull on time (well planned for 7k and pulled at 6k we later figured) and THEN - MOST IMPORTANTLY - fly my landing pattern with NO PROBLEM what so ever. It was total perfection (I'm so proud)! Just goes to show you CAN NOT depend on electronics and every skydiver should be AWARE of where they are in relation to the ground as well as to others. It was kinda freaky but I also felt kinda cool!! heh"It is our choices that show what we truly are far more than our abilities." - A. shermanator 3 #2 March 3, 2008 It's always a weird/scary feeling the first time you go alti-less *new invented word* Good job on training yourself for visual reference. As for the neptune, Did you get it fixed? I had one go bizzerk on me as well, (had fun watching it go crazy on the ride up, completely ignored it on the way down), found it to be a faulty battery. I cahnged the battery and it has worked fine since.CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #
ladyhawke 0 #3 March 3, 2008 I think we fixed it! But I put in a new battery just in case!"It is our choices that show what we truly are far more than our abilities." - A. Dumbledore
Mikhail 0 #4 March 4, 2008 Haha, nice! I shattered my Neptune against the King Air door once. I was doing a 4-way so I pulled on people's arms to see the altimeters. I did have an audible but still broke off a bit early.
gofastrlbrown 0 #5 March 18, 2008 Can you land with those ears or do you still need a parachute. Those ears should work like a wing suit!!!!! Cool avatar!LOLIt is strange, the more I practice, the better I get!
brianfry713 0 #6 March 26, 2008 Standard Neptune fix - update the software and install a new battery. Fix for not breaking it on exit - install the armor.BASE 1224, Senior Parachute Rigger, CPL ASEL IA, AGI, IGI USPA Coach & UPT Tandem Instructor, PRO, Altimaster Field Support Representative
JohnMitchell 14 #7 March 26, 2008 Good job. Try to get less dependent on your altimeter, especially under canopy. It's all about the glidepath, not the altitude anyway. The best swoopers I know don't use an alti for swooping at all, just their eyes.
