jdthomas 0 #6 October 14, 2009 100% of all rigs I do/did service for have AAD's, each having a Cypress brand and only One having HAD an Astra that later switched to Cypress.www.greenboxphotography.com
hackish 8 #7 October 15, 2009 I have several jumpers of the older variety with thousands of jumps who say they don't need one because they've already pulled successfully 2000 times or whatever. Last 8 years I've driven successfully without needing a seatbelt too... Most of the younger jumpers have AADs even if their license doesn't require it. I have jumped without an AAD although usually it was on a borrowed rig or one that couldn't take one. I have never needed the AAD's feature but I might on my next jump so I really like to have one installed and turned on. -Michael
Andrewwhyte 1 #8 October 15, 2009 So the numbers (weighted average) look like ~80%. That's what my rigger thought as well.
Andy9o8 0 #9 October 16, 2009 QuoteMaybe......just maybe you are asking an honest question............ but........ It's too soon to fire up the AAD debate again!! No it isn't. Just 2 days before you posted this, there were 2 separate fatalities where an activated AAD might have made either or both incidents survivable. AndyMan 7 #10 October 17, 2009 The only sport rigs I've seen without an AAD are dedicated CRW rigs. Even some of those have AAD's. The notion of a "debate" over AAD's seems an anachronism. There is no longer any debate. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
JohanW 0 #11 October 20, 2009 PA rigs. Swoop rigs. But regular freefall rigs? No debate.Johan. I am. I think.
