I don't think

Recommended Posts

I've ever heard this one before..
I was on a lift with some tandems and the conversation went something like this:

Tandem Passenger: "Hey are we gonna fall through clouds?"
Instructor: "No we don't jump through clouds"
TP:" Well when you fall through a cloud does it taste like metal?"
Instructor:" Excuse me?"
TP: "My friend told me that clouds taste like metal"
Instructor...speechless.:S
I had to turn my face away as did the camera flyer next to me. It was worth a good chuckle;)

We used to tell them that if they went through a cloud not to breathe in as they are poisonous....it certainly makes them double take....

Sigh....

Please people, get the facts straight.

As was reported in the old standing FAQ online, and in media, the reason we dont jump through clouds is that its impossible to absorb O2 in them. As you know, while in freefall, our skin folds over, crating more surface area for our skin to absorb O2 by osmosis; this is a natural evolution humans have since breathing in 120 mph winds is impossible. But the water in clouds obstructs our skn pores and makes this O2 absorbsion impossible.

Jumping through clouds would mean certain, painfull death.
