PhreeZone 15 #1 January 6, 2005 Picked this up today and it works pretty well when used with Ad-Aware too. http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx Its free but its in Beta right now. Hope this helps clear a few peoples spyware issues.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

And DameWare Remote Control as well? Looks like i'm going to stick to Spybot, Spywareblaster, Hijackthis and Adaware. "This isn't an iron lung, people. PhreeZone 15 #6 January 6, 2005 Wincap is actually being used now by a few spyware software bits so its warned but you can ignore it from all future scans. The really cool feature I like is that you have a real time scanned built in with it so that if something tries to get installed it will be prevented. Its not a removal tool, its a prevention tool.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Avion 0 #7 January 6, 2005 Anything written by Micr0S#ft should be considered supect Ethereal is best used on a laptop, used as a network analyser, rather than on your workstation
PhreeZone 15 #8 January 6, 2005 Ethereal is not detected, but the WinCAp network protocol software is detected as a possible suspect program due to some of its uses. Nothing different then a few keyloggers being detected as suspect software by Norton/Mcafee/Panda because 90% of the time they are used for bad instead of good.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
jsaxton 0 #9 January 6, 2005 Looks pretty good, even kills ISTsvc, which Ad-aware6.0 and Adware-way can't touch.
CrazyIvan 0 #10 January 7, 2005 I downloaded the BETA this morning and I've been testing it, I'll have to open one of my "canned" nasties I keep for testing and see how it goes.__________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you. jdfreefly 1 #11 January 7, 2005 Be warned, you lay down with dogs, and you will wake up with fleas. Micro$oft is not to be trusted. I only have one computer running their shitty os and that is so I can play games. Methane Freefly - got stink?
CrazyIvan 0 #12 January 7, 2005 What I've seen so far, is that this scanner skips lots of cookies that NoAdware picks up as spyware, and what's funny, is that it detects itself as spyware .__________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you. PhreeZone 15 #13 January 7, 2005 Remember... this is designed more as a prevention tool then a cleaner tool. Better to prevent them from ever getting there in the first place then to have to clean them after they already get installed. I'll have a beta of the Mcafee on access protection product within 30 days I'll send you also Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
RevJim 0 #14 January 7, 2005 I installed it on this W2000 box to test it out, and oddly enough, it found nothing labeled as spyware. I thought that was odd, so I ran AdAware and caome up with a whole freakin' 4 cookies. Not bad I say. What freaked me out more is I got a pop up shortly after that warning me that my Windows messenger service was enabled (I forgot to disable it after my fresh wipe 3 weeks ago). Cool! What's better? It disabled it for me...It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#
