I want an IPOD or something similar! Which one should I get?

Recommended Posts

I asked this in another thread but I got DENIED! So anyhoo here goes again.

What is the best music storage thingy out there that hold the most songs and is the coolest looking in the whole wide world EVER? Oh also it shouldn't be too expensive. I don't actually have any money but I need one really bad.

Edited for Conundrum.

Why get an Ipod when Irever and Creative both make technicaly better and more feature rich products.

As far as I can see, the only reason to get an Ipod is as a fashon statment.

Other Hard Drive media players, that dont look as good have far more/better features.

I'm not actually set on an IPOD. That's why I posted this.

Thanks!

Then why say "I want an IPOD!" When what you really want, is an MP3 holder. :P

If I was you I would seriously consider the iRiver range http://www.iriveramerica.com/

One of the main disadvantages of the iPod is that the DRM is very tight, and only alows you to play iTunes.

With other makes you can play any MP3 of OG files you have acces to.
You can also use them as protable Hard Drives. Which can be very usefull form moveing large files between PCs.

However if you purley want to play leagle DRM protected music, on a stylish desiner peice of fashon, then go for an ipod

My understanding is that you have to use client software on your PC. This will convert then to the iTune format on your device. This does not mean they need to be downloaded from the iTune site.

However, it dose mean you cant plug you iPod into your mates PC and then copy all you music to them as MP3s

You also cant use them as portable hard drives.

Please correct me if I am worng.

Ive just read your last quote....

iPods are the coolest ever.... and if you want to stay totaly leagle with your music they will do everything you want.

Not that I am saying I would break the law.
(Just glad that we dont have the DMCA or RIAA here)

are you saying that an ipod only lets you play music you purchased with itunes? maybe i misread your post, but thats incorrect. you can play any music file you have on your PC on an ipod.

Apple is in the middle of a lawsuit with Real because they found a way to put songs from their music store on an iPod...that didn't make Apple happy. Their policy is too constrictive.

I place a 2nd vote on the iRiver line. The Creative players get good reviews as well.

What is your price range Shannon?

Get one of those portable XM radio receivers... Ever since I got XM radio for my home I listen to nothing else.

Ooh I want one of those too. Iwan? You hear that?

I need a digital camera as well. Plus a new video camera because mine is broken. :(

Being broke sucks.
