piercewhat 0 #1 April 15, 2005 So is it a stupid idea that I quit my second job making an extra 24k in cash a year to focus on skydiving and hopefully make a living out of it one day. Can't quit my 9-5 it pays the bills. Am I jumping into it to fast or is it better to spend every waking moment hoping to dive?
DShiznit 0 #2 April 15, 2005 You are jumping in too fast. Keep your second job. When everyone starts jumping, they ALL have those thoughts. Get your A and then re-evaluate your options.
Ashtanga 0 #3 April 15, 2005 If your going to quit a job for skydiving at least wait until you have all your ratings or enough jumps/experience to be a highly rated coach. There is not a lot of money in skydiving and it is hard to make ends meet. If you don't have your ratings you end up packing and most of the time if you do that you don't end up jumping all that much.
Buried 0 #4 April 15, 2005 at least keep it until next season.. you can save all that extra money for gear and jumps next yr Where is my fizzy-lifting drink?
GARYC24 3 #5 April 15, 2005 I have 2nd job for skydiving and extra spending money, bills, etc. If you can pull it off, I say go for it, life is short. Give it a try. If that is the only reason you work 2nd job is for.
piercewhat 0 #6 April 15, 2005 Second job is only for play money and I have been saving since January for skydiving for the A certification and gear when I finish. I figured that I could spend the majority of my time on the weekends out on the DZ rather then inside working.
riggerrob 558 #7 April 15, 2005 Learn how to pack early. Packing mains may not be glamorous, but it is the best-paying job on the DZ.

Thats funny, I have been trying to find a second job to support my skydiving!!! I am definitely addicted and have been jumping a lot....or when I can and the weather is good. It can be pretty expensive, especially when you are just starting up the sport. Try balancing for a little while, and use that money to save up for your own rig. *** F LORIDA!
