skybill 19 #12 April 26, 2005 Hi Jim, 1. Your main chute was orange and white (candy stripe.) 2. Everyone else's was the same. 3. if you could scrape up $240.00 you could get a RWB P.C. 4. For $25.00 you could get a good cheap-po rig. 5. for another $15.00 you could get a 24' T-7 twill reserve in a chest container to go with your cheap-po. 6' The club "Hot Shot" (Sky God was not in the vernacular at that time) had 35 jumps, a B-License, and jumped a cheap-po 7-TU. (less experienced jumpers were only allowed double "L", double "T" and the like mods. 7. 30SD jumps from 7500' out of Bob Landary's Cessna 172 wer about $3.50 (tach.time). That was the early 60's. The late 60's is another story!!!SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
banjobill 0 #13 April 26, 2005 You owned a Nehru jacket. Your "square" parachute had warning labels on the risers. You thought nothing could be hotter than a Delta II - especially hooking one in for a stand-up. Don't forget the Supremes, The Temptations, Sam & Dave, James Brown!....with a capital P and that rhymes with T and that spells TROUBLE!!!
peacefuljeffrey 0 #14 April 26, 2005 QuoteNo one took guns to school........ Kids took guns to school all the time in decades past. They were allowed to. Schools had shooting clubs and competitions, and kids would bring their .410s and .22s to school so that they could go hunting squirrels and stuff after school. It was NOT a PROBLEM. I think you might be thinking of kids bringing guns to school FOR CRIMES OF VIOLENCE. That does seem like a more recent thing. -Jeffrey-Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... tbrown 26 #15 April 26, 2005 QuoteIt's all kind of a fuzzy blur...set to Beatles music! Saw The Beatles on Ed Sullivision when I was 8 years old. Believe it or not, our mom made us watch - a decision she regrets to this day. They looked so weird with their "long hair", it sure was longer than any hair we'd ever seen on a man. But they were SO GOOD ! They were playing "She Loves You" and all the girls in Sullivan's audience were going shrieking nuts. We KNEW this was something completely different. It was so different, so good, we didn't even know what to do about it. So we just laughed ourselves silly. And so The Beatles helped America to snap out of our national bummer over the JFK assasination. They made it okay to have fun again. Then they changed the face of western culture, but that took a few more years. Well done guys... Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity !
