Jonathan's truck was pulling this same stunt a few weeks ago. After having various repairs made, all of them which did not fix the problem, it wound up being the electronic fuel pump, pumping intermittenly. We then took an air hose and blew through the fuel line behind the fuel pump going to the gas tank, and could hardly blow through it even with 120 PSI. Pulled the fuel tank, shopped it, tons of trash in the bottom of it. Boiled it out, replaced it and the fuel pump and cleaned out the fuel lines, end of problems. His truck is similar to yours. Hope you get it fixed. Take Care.

Update:

I spent all day working on it. I wanted to do the cheap/free stuff and more troubleshooting before spending any more $$$. With it at idle, I sprayed carb cleaner on all the vacuum line junctions I could find. The engine RPM's never changed. I took the throttle body back off and cleaned the EGR passage (there was a lot of gunk in there) and the intake manifold. I took the EVR Vacuum Solenoid Vavle off, took it apart and cleaned the filter in it. I disconnected the battery and cleaned the clamps and battery studs. I replaced a 4-inch piece of vacuum tubing that connected the throttle body the the purge canister line that looked trashed. I put everything back together and cranked it up. Got some smoke from all the carb cleaner, but that went away in a couple of minutes. Took it for a drive and it was as bad as ever. Got some advice from a mechanic (thanks Caress!) and checked for a vacuum at the EGR vavle at idle. There isn't supposed to be a vacuum there at idle, but there was. Spent $24.99 on a new EVR Vacuum Solenoid Vavle. Easy to reach, 2 bolts and a plug. Runs great now.:)

It's a good feeling knowing you figured it out and fixed it yourself isn't it? Cool Now that you've replaced everything but the block, want to sell it? Laugh

Great feeling. And hell no, I'm gonna replace the block and keep it. Then it will be a new truck:ph34r:

My car does something simular to this, 2003 ford escort ... It seems to idle fine, but when it's cold and I start trying to drive it will jerk the f*ck out of me (it's a stick) the engine just kinda run idle run idle when I'm trying to accelerate... This was a problem when the car had few miles on it, almost new, they replaced the throttle body and it went away for awhile, but now it's getting worse... I still got a few miles left on the warrenty, gonna make them look at it again :S>:(

I wonder how many incidents have been avoided because DZ.com exists?
