ccowden 0 #1 November 15, 2005 Might as well give the man his own thread! Is anyone else in the SK Library? I am. I have all his hardcovers. I actually like some of his "newer" books. Needful Things, Desperation, The Dark Half. But his older ones are classics!

ccowden 0 #4 November 15, 2005 Yeah baby! Oh, and I probably should have mentioned that this was supposed to be a continuation from the discussion on SK in the earthquake thread.
jumpchikk 0 #5 November 15, 2005 Yes, I realized that too. I got your pennywise reference immediately. I watched that movie in high school, freaked me out.. then I read the book. I love Stephen King and Dean Koontz. Good stuff.
sunshine 2 #6 November 15, 2005 I dont' like him anymore. I got tired of having to sleep with the lights on. Gerald's Game is the last book of his i read. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!
DJL 232 #7 November 15, 2005 Read half of his stuff on paper, the rest as Books on Audio. Great listening for drives to the DZ."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
tigra 0 #8 November 15, 2005 Gerald's game was TERRIBLE! One of the few King novels I wish I had not read. But, there's so much more that's really great, so try again! They aren't even all scary. He's got a great ability to write characters that you really care about one way or another. You love them or you hate them but you're drawn into their stories. Please Please don't let Geralds Game be the last Stephen King novel you ever read! Try Bag of Bones- that's one of my favorites and its more suspense than horror. tigra 0 #10 November 15, 2005 I was in the library for a long time. I moved a couple of times and the books kept finding me- the last one I remember getting was Hearts in Atlantis, then they just stopped.
tigra 0 #11 November 15, 2005 Yes, that and The Green Mile. But if Gerald's Game was the only King novel I ever picked up, I doubt I'd read another one. That one was just awful from start to finish.
ccowden 0 #12 November 15, 2005 I feel that way about Insomnia. That book was aptly titled.
GTAVercetti 0 #13 November 15, 2005 No one has mentioned "The Dark Tower"!!! Beatiful series and so many books tie into it: Insomnia, It, Bag of Bones to name a few. Plus, I loved the end. Very cool and angering...so I liked it.Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
jumpingbean001 0 #14 November 15, 2005 I see the clown....from 'It'??? I like him alright, but he has some really bad ones too. Some of his seem really slasher-like...I lean more to the Dean Koontz style of writing! Let's have fun! :)
sunshine 2 #15 November 15, 2005 QuoteI feel that way about Insomnia. That book was aptly titled Eek, i read that too. I used to read all his stuff til Gerald's Game and Insomnia. I still think my fave story was The Langoliers. I really enjoyed his shorter stories best since i have no attention span. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! sinker 0 #16 November 15, 2005 i like his shorter works too, and bachman books... misery was ok, insomnia was, eh, so so... tommynockers, eh, but shit he had some killers didn't he? -the artist formerly known as sinker
ccowden 0 #17 November 15, 2005 Yeah you really do have to have an attention span for some of his books before he ties it all together, but that is what I like about his writing. Bag of Bones was great that way!
noblesmelissa 0 #18 November 15, 2005 Nobody mentioned "The Stand" yet... Classic. I am a HUGE King fan...
 ccowden 0 #19 November 15, 2005 Actually, both The Stand and The Dark Tower were mentioned in the other thread. This thread just hasn't caught up yet. Yes, The Stand is a good one for sure. IT is my favorite though. It's a psycho/thriller book which gets into the mind of Jesse, and it scares you half to death. Many of his books ive read several times over...Pet Sematary, Firestarter, The Stand, It, The Green Mile, Skeleton Crew, Misery, Cujo, Carrie...just to name a few. I love the way some of his characters and settings make appearances in several different books. I have yet to read any of the Dark Tower series although I have been told that it is the best of the lot...
