Don't buy Pepsi in the new can. Pepsi apparently has a new "patriotic" can coming out with pictures of the Empire State Building , and the Pledge of Allegiance on them.

However, Pepsi left out two little words in the pledge,"Under God." Pepsi reportedly has said they didn't want to offend anyone, so out of "political correctness", they left it off the packaging of the product.

In that case, we don't want to offend anyone at the Pepsi corporate office,
either!

So if we don't buy any Pepsi or Pepsi products, they will not be offended when they don't receive our money that has the words, "In God We Trust" on it.

The original pledge:

His original Pledge read as follows: 'I pledge allegiance to my Flag and (to*) the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.' He considered placing the word, 'equality,' in his Pledge, but knew that the state superintendents of education on his committee were against equality for women and African Americans. [ * 'to' added in October, 1892. ]

The "under God" was not added until 1954.

And this is the kind of stuff I hate and could send this to SC. The fact I do not belive in God does not make me less patriotic, less moral, less caring ,less anything that I am aware of. Yet many would judge me that way for not believing. I do not care that others may believe and want to believe in somethinfg that makes them feel more fullfilled. I can think of many other reason that you may want to boycott Pepsi but not this. Besides Pepsi great and Coke sucks;)
And it is true that the "under God" phrase was added in the 50's as an additional way differentiate the American public from the atheistic communist heathens that were trying to overrun the world.:P

Didn't see that bit first time around.... WTF was that all about?

How much trust can you put in stuff on Wiki?

.

Not much
Wikki is not a journal, it's a gathering of information supliied by evewryday folks some with the best intentions post false truths, others post malicious info. some is just wrong.
It relies on the readers to correct mistakes, if they can be bothered.
Don't read it as an online Britanica;)

I can't vouch for wiki , but the part about the original pledge being penned by a socialist and the "under god" being later added in the McCarthy era as a response to communism is true.

Their reasonings may or may not have been valid , but that's the history of how it came to be.

whoa! Ease up there cowboyB|

just so we're clear, I do not care about your personal, religious, emotional beliefs. all I asked was "is there any truth to this?"

I assume by your response that you assume I believe in whatever the hell is it that you seem to disagree with.

I was so sure this was going to get into SC just bc the word god was in the title. I am amazed that is hasn't already. but just for the record don't insinutate a flame for no reason.[:/]

I know that the original version didnt not have those words "under god" in it. I was curious b/c that wasn't the only amendment to the pledge so I wanted to know what if any version of the pledge was on the can. I wasn't thumping a bible and I wasn't shake my head in dismay. I was asking a question.

I agree with you that many would do that, but it ain't me;)
