kelel01 1 #10 June 13, 2006 I really can't. It's a school thing. If I pick the wrong one, it'll just be that much longer before I can do the right one.

lauraliscious 0 #12 June 13, 2006 I say you go for it. And I think I know what you're talking about. How will you ever know if that's what you really want to do if you don't try it?? If it gets to be too much you can always change your mind. But seriously, something tells me you'd actually like the road ahead allbeit a loooooong one... kelel01 1 #13 June 13, 2006 See, here's the deal - short version. Nursing school and med school have different prerequisites. Med school only starts once a year, so if I don't sign up for the right classes for this fall, it could delay me an entire year. BUT, I could potentially start nursing school next Spring, and that would mean an entirely different fall schedule. I won't find out about nursing school in time to change my fall schedule later anyway, so basically, I need to decide NOW, during registration. That way, I don't have to fight to get the classes I need (whatever they may be). So, I guess, technically, I have until drop/add in the fall to decide, but making up my mind is STRESSING ME OUT. I just wanna get it over with. BTW, what I'm referring to losing in my sig line is MY MIND.

kelel01 1 #16 June 13, 2006 I didn't really. It just came up. I've always wanted to do it, but I never actually thought I would. I never had the sac before. Now I really want to, and I want to right now.
Slappie 9 #17 June 13, 2006 Kel you KNOW you want to go into the medical field.. and you KNOW you won't be happy being a RN. So you might as well just do it. You're young bright and a hell of a person. GO FOR IT! Nursing will always be there if you feel you don't have what it takes to finish the reqs for MS. I am fixing to uproot and move across the city just so my gf (bubbles) can go to nursing school at night. She's finished up her reqs and is ready, so I've made the decision to buy a house closer to school to make it easier on her while she's in school. I'll be adding about 45min to my daily drive of 30mins. So 1.25hr on the road if there is no traffic. How often do you drive in a city of 4 million with no traffic? ... never. but I'm happy for her. tigra 0 #23 June 13, 2006 OK, first off, there is absolutely nothing wrong with becoming a nurse as long as that's what you want to do. But, if med school is really where your heart is, and nursing school is more like something you thought you would have to "settle" for, I think you owe it to yourself to go for it and sign up for the premed classes. And I think you already know that too! Good luck! My SO was in the hospital all last week, so obviously, I spent an awful lot of time there too. I can tell you that good nurses are an underappreciated treasure, and a caring sensitive doctor with decent communication skills is even more rare! You'll help a lot of people no matter which path you choose!
kbordson 8 #24 June 13, 2006 Firstly - Don't feel pressed to HAVE to make a decision (as in the pm... it's a journey not a destination) Secondly - I feel that I need to defend the Nursing side of the house. RN's are intelligent and respected. There is nothing "less" about being a nurse. That being said, although Dr.s and Nurses are on the same team, there are different expectations that go with each. As the Dr., the ultimate recommendations come from you. Just think about what you want to do and let it fall into place. If you have questions about how to help it fall... feel free to ask others!
