LisaM 0 #1 March 1, 2007 So my company is hiring for a position above where I am at. I am qualified for the position and it'd be about damn time. Thing is that I have to formally apply (guess they never thought to promote me because we do need another body) and formally interview. Here's where the fun comes in. The current Senior here would be part of the decision making process. #1 she thinks the position is not what we need that we need somene "at my level" (meaning a lowly programmer). #2 it would make me her peer and I do think she is scared of her ideas being questioned. I felt I would be letting myself down not to apply for the position. I would forever wonder, what if. But, she does not see me as a peer despite my good ideas. She's got 15 years experience on me. She is currently trying to talk my boss out of hiring for this position, so this all may be worth nothing. But at least it gets my interest out there. I am a wreck. I ruined my diet again by eating comfort food. Oops. She has a meeting with boss first thing tomorrow to talk him out of it. ~ Lisa ~ Do you Rigminder? LisaM 0 #4 March 1, 2007 That's what I was thinking. I just have to keep my girly emotions out of it if I don't get it. I mean it's one thing to not get a job. It's another to not get it when all your coworkers are there watching. You know? ~ Lisa ~ Do you Rigminder?

LisaM 0 #6 March 1, 2007 Naw, I'll just be embarrased for a while. Then things will go back to normal. But I would be letting myself down if I let it pass and then if we do hire someone, I would wonder forever if that could be me. It's really all about the $$! ~ Lisa ~ Do you Rigminder?
