I thought the red-lines were a browser function...I get them in Firefox...I've not tried IE so I don't know.

Andy, click the Tools menu and select Options.
Click Advanced at the top of the window.
Select the General tab.
Uncheck "Check my spelling as I type"

Problem solved.
