risers, toggles, main-bag and pilot chute?

Recommended Posts

You may be better off negotiating, rather than demanding. :D

Usually when one buys a main, they get main canopy & toggles. Risers and P/C may be negotiable. D-Bags are usually not as they tend to go with the rig - but can be negotiable.

Discuss, stipulate & get it in writing.

Yep! The harness container system comes with everything EXCEPT the main and reserve canopies....
Pete Draper,

Parachute Industry Association document TS102 says that canopy manufacturers are supposed to supply: canopy, lines, slider, diaper (usually sewn onto rounds) and links,
Harness/container manufacturers are responsible for everything else.
Sometimes second-hand main canopies are sold with 3-ring risers because:
A - it is a nuisance swapping risers
B - main irsers are high wear items that only last 600-ish jumps
C- usually you can swap risers between different harnesses. Ask your local rigger about the subtlties of RSL compatiblity, etc.

Main d-bags and pilot chutes should definitely stay with the container.

Demand is too strong a word. Negotiate sounds better especially when you ask him to knock $100 off the price because the main risers are frayed or missing.

I beg to differ. Toggles go with the risers, since most toggles are designed for a specific riser.

Shit - You're right. Can I blame not having my second cup of coffee on this one??? :S
