What is a Main container bottom flap closing loop retainer?

Its an option on the wings, new to the sport and just wondering what it is and how it differs from standard, advantages and disadvantages of having it. cheers.

lol, I always thought the "closing loop retainer" was the knot in the bottom of it below the grommet. or maybe the plastic stiffener covering that...

I suppose that means the closing loop is attached to the bottom flap as opposed to the bottom of the pack tray. i.e. My Voodoo has the closing loop on the bottom flap, but the Javelin has the closing loop in the main pack tray. Having it in the main pack tray allows a greater range of pack volumes while maintaining a tight closing loop.

So why would you want it on the bottom flap.... surely its advantageous to have it in the pack tray if you can get a wider range of pack volumes while maintaining a tight closing loop?

That's the option to have it on the bottom flap instead of the bottom of the reserve container. It's just a better place to have it in my opinion. Less chance of there being issues with the main lines being involved with the closing loop.

That's how it is on Vector 3s too. I personally like it because there's one less flap to close. That bottom flap was always the hardest for me to close on my old overstuffed Reflex. The closing loop is forced to squish the dbag... just ugly.

It's less of a snag factor on the bottom flap, and it has to pass through one less grommet reducing the small chance of a hang up.

The advantage of having it attached tot he bottom of the reserve container in the back tray is the ability to over tighten the contaner for a smaller than sized for canopy.
