Goodbye Bea Arthur

Recommended Posts

LOS ANGELES — Beatrice Arthur, the tall, deep-voiced actress whose razor-sharp delivery of comedy lines made her a TV star in the hit shows "Maude" and "The Golden Girls" and who won a Tony Award for the musical "Mame," died Saturday. She was 86.

I remember when her "Maude" character was considered cutting edge feminism.

Dude, Maude was not only ground-breaking ball-busting, it was one of the funniest and most pointed shows ever. She'll always be Maude to me, and right up there with Lucille Ball as one of the great comic actresses ever.
Bummer news.

What is amazing is how much more she did other than Maude and GG.

That woman really worked her ass off.

She was also as funny as Lucille or Carol.

They probably would say the same.

I wonder what they three are doing in the afterlife?

Ball Busting?:D:D:D:D

Carol Burnette? Isn't she still alive?

If he is referring to Carol Burnett, yes, she's still alive.

I agree with everyone. Bea Arthur was a brilliant comedic actress and definitely on par with Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett.

Didn't Estelle Getty (Sophia) also pass away in the past year?

Thanks for all the laughs Bea! Thank God for re-runs.
