billeisele 122 #1 August 8, 2009 for all you wizard auto mechanics - what is the story on these Super Chip type products that can modify vehicle characteristics for economy and performance Do they really work? Do they cause problems with the engine?Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws. rivetgeek 0 #2 August 8, 2009 For the most part they are total BS and a waste of money. you can get a Factory Race ecu for better performance, but silly gimmicks like this wont change much,.~Bones Knit, blood clots, glory is forever, and chicks dig scars.~
thedude325 0 #3 August 8, 2009 you're not going to get better economy. they program the engines to run at peak economy. you may get a few HP out of them, but it isn't worth it.
lpdwntnd 0 #4 August 8, 2009 I have always told people not to touch anything in these newer cars. Might just end up costing you a headache and or a grip of money. P.S. I don't know what the "Super Chip" is but if it has anything to do with the cars cpu then please don't. If it's one of the air intake "tornadoes" I would still say don't waste your money. If it's an older fuel injected car then buy some sea foam and dump it in your fuel tank. It should clear out your injectors/manifold/and cylinders after a full cycle of the tank. Might give you a little better mpg. Stop looking at me
pontiacgtp00 0 #5 August 8, 2009 Most "performance" chips I've seen just make the engine run pig rich. They're nothing more than a basemap with the fuel/ignition charts ramped up. Get a burnable chip custom made for your application, then take it to a dyno to have it tuned.
