busted toggle stows?

Recommended Posts

My toggle stow broke 2 weeks ago and after getting it replaced i just jumped my rig today and they both busted again. I was wondering if anybody has had this problem before where something would be causing this. Im jumping a falcon 215 loaded at .9.
thanks

The only time I've seen toggle stows bust is if you're setting the brakes above the metal ring on the riser instead of below. The brake lines take a huge amount of shock during opening and unless that ring is there to stop them, they'll rip the toggle keepers right off the risers.

When that happens, the brakes are released right on openeing.

What he said. When you stow your brakes, grab the brake line above the ring and give it a pull. Just takes a second and will make sure it is set right.

I do believe that there is also one other wrong way than in the pics -- you can stow it with out putting it thru the metal ring ----- but the one that is correct is the only way

Yup, here's some quick pics I just took of that configuration as an example.
