Old Jumpers stay away from the drop zone.

Recommended Posts

Well not anymore. Met a great couple at my dz this weekend. The woman (in her late 70's early 80's?) has a D-license in the 220's and started jumping in the 1950's. The gentleman started jumping in the 1960's. They recently decided to get back into skydiving... Pretty cool!

Are there any active jumpers here with that much time in the sport, or do you know of other pioneer jumpers with a similar story?

Look at the "years in sport" of some of the folks on here.

Lew Sanborn (D1) is still jumping. There are quite a few. If you go to the History forum you'll get an earful

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

There is an older woman at our DZ that did a lot of test piloting of canopies in the military (I think in the 60s) that got back into skydiving last year. After she finished her AFF she got her D license.
