It's not that you're a "man" nor does it have any thing to do with a Y chrmn. It's the projection of unrealistic expectations and how that is then internalized. It's about the health of a relationship and thus the health of a person. "Medicine" and "wellness" is not just about blood work and body mass index... It's not nice maths like engineers get to play with. It has so many more dimensions that play into it. "Wellness" is not something a doctor can really give, but yet everyday, I have women come in for a "Well Woman Exam" and they hope/expect me to make them "well." Just like they expect relationships to make them "happy." Neither can do that. So those expectations are just as unrealistic as a males expectation that she should be a size 2, have a 38 bust, and be able to answer "If you could change one of your physical characteristics, which one would it be and why?" I do understand that you posted this thread with an Andrew Dice Clay/ "tongue in cheek" mentality, and I know that you don't see the effect but I just wanted to say that it is there. I have seen the women that take it too far and then have chronic health problems related to their weight. My point on all this is that we just need to try and realize what effect we have on others. I don't prescribe birth control so that they can get more guys to "like" them... many times I don't even prescribe it FOR birth control (painful periods/ irregular bleeding/ heavy periods) I just look at this issue differently. My perspective is not a scoring system on shallowness; it's looking at risks with diabetes or hypertension. When I receive criticism, so matter who it comes from, I will spend some time internalizing it and evaluating it....sometimes, I find that I do need some minor correction in this area or that. And you know, I was called fat at one point in life (after my first child) know what I did?! I proved them wrong, now I kick ass in just about every kind of racing there is.
