Anyone else have their Amateur Radio license?

I got my Technician, and General last month. I am currently saving for a HF radio, and participating on 2 meter nets with a Baofeng HT. Once i get my HF radio, im wondering what band to build my antenna for. I hear 40 meters is a good all around band.

40m is good, 20m is more popular.
I've made some amazing contacts on 17m mobile.

I know 20M is popular, my issue with it is local work. They say its almost impossible to work people 0-200, 500 miles, and that is a more get up and get out band for DX.
