Kimblair13 0 #1 May 20, 2004 Hey...anyone know where I can get hard housing for my cutaway cables for QuasarII? Also, what is everyones opinion on having soft housing? Some people at my DZ say not to jump it and it's death, others say it's perfectly fine.
billbooth 10 #2 May 21, 2004 Opinion #1 is correct. It's death. Contact Strong Enterprises for hard housings. They made the rig.

scottjaco 0 #4 May 22, 2004 I had my '94 Talon switched over to hard housings. I can't really tell the difference in "pull force" when I cut way on the ground. I do like the concept of hard housing better. My cut away cable used to hug the back of my reserve ripcord when it passed around the yoke of the container. It didn't look very good. I like knowing that the cords are totally isolated from the rest of the rig and not rubbing against anything.
riggerrob 558 #5 May 30, 2004 QuoteHey...anyone know where I can get hard housing for my cutaway cables for QuasarII? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I have a whole drawer full of used metal housings. Any Master Rigger should be able to help you retrofit hard housings and the manufacturer (Strong Enterprises) will cheerfully mail you a set of hard housings. I am on the side of the argument that says soft housings are perfectly fine for skydiving, provided they are installed correctly. The problem is that the average skydiver is not bright enough to read the manual and install release cables in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
