groundpounder 0 #1 February 11, 2004 All, the skydiving community seems great. It's as though I have a new set of friends and family! Not that there is anything wrong with the first set. I have 20 jumps under my belt. I have Q's about gear, I'll post those in the respective forums. peace and blue skies, groundpounder

SlyFox 0 #5 February 11, 2004 Welcome to the forum and to skydiving. *****Why would anyone jump from a perfectly good airplane? Because it isn't much fun if it's broke.****
groundpounder 0 #6 February 11, 2004 My home DZ, right. That would be Mile-Hi in Longmont, CO. I did all my training in Eloy, AZ though. The wind chill is a bit more eye opening here in Colorado. Plus the snow makes for a hard-to-see landing spot, and wet shoes! But if you gotta jump, you gotta jump right?

groundpounder 0 #13 February 12, 2004 Any story about the history of the name "groundpounder" has nothing to do with skydiving. I do not literally "pound the ground" when I touch down. It really goes back to when I took a group of friends 4-wheeling. Someone commented that they'd really hate to be the ground underneath my truck, because it would most likely be an unpleasant experience to be churned up with big tires.... In the ensuing commentary, the name GroundPounder was born!
