  1. i put my booties on the jump after i got my a-cert and found it strange for the first few jumps ended up getting a bit unstable after dropping a leg but after that is was fine. My problem has come with my only jump since then without booties on. After 20hrs of tunnel and 250 jumps all flat with booties i decided to do a jump in shorts which resulted in a few problems. 1. couldnt dive to the formation as i was not used to not having the pressure on my lower legs so went over vertical and ended up on my back. 2. i backslid 3. my track was less than pathetic 4. at pull time i realised that i drop a leg to compensate for my arm moving but as there was not the normal pressure there i ended up flipping myself onto my back with great style with my PC in my hand managed to throw while i was on my side to was ok. Lesson learnt though dont fly without my FS suit on
  2. you are doing better than me. I froze lost alti awareness missed 2 of my practice pulls and when it was time to pull my instructor had to pull for me oh and i landed off. Repeated passed had no problems with the rest of my aff passed without failing another level. Dont give up you know what to expect now get back in the air and have fun
  3. break at 4.5 to 5.5 depending on jump and number of people on it track and start slow wave off at 3.5 in saddle by 2.5-2.4
  4. thanks will have a look at both of them
  5. i know it is easily possible to have landings on a canopy loaded at 1.3 that you just step and you have stoped on 0 wind days and i also know there are landings where i have to run or slide off on no wind days the difference is just a few feet.
  6. Am off to Vegas in april with the family and looking to get the family some tandem jumps. Am just trying to find out the best center to go to out there and if they let fun jumpers jump and if any hire kit available if possible would be looking for a 170/190 as i cant justify taking my rig out there to do 1 or 2 jumps. If it helps i am a uk jumper with 160 jumps
  7. i will be there and i know there are 35 crazy belgiums going down also
  8. see if you can buy a parachuting action man or something and put the gift cert in with that,
  9. where do you draw the line? I jump a 1989 jav with a 1990 pd reserve and a 1990 sabre. reserve has 17 repacks and 4 jumps on it and sabre has 600 jumps but only 80 on a new line set. Do you consider this past its life?
  10. my first rig cost me £1000 and that was 8 months ago. Its a javalin with a pd 176 reserve and a sabre 190 with an aad with 4 years left. Yes its 21 years old but there is nothing wrong with it. riggers have inspercted it and deemed it safe. My second rig cost me £600 and that was a superfly tear drop with tempo 170 and sabre 170 and a aad with 1 year left. So now am in the process of selling my jav
  11. above 15 degree. If you done that with me you would only jump one day of the year.
  12. Misinterpretation of the Grading System Below are the requirements for obtaining FS1 within the Grading System. N.B.(1) refers to coaching or qualification jumps and was included so that no more than one trainee FS1 jumper would be included in 3 or 4-way training or qualifying jumps. Some CCIs appear to have misunderstood this N.B. and are permitting non-qualified FS1 jumpers to jump with FS1 qualified jumpers who are not FS coaches (or jumpers with coaching experience). It is not the intention that non-qualified jumpers, be it FS, FF, CF etc should jump with others of the same discipline until they are suitably qualified, i.e. FS1, FF1, CF etc, as this would go against the whole principle of the Grading System. 6.4. Formation Skydiving (FS) 6.4.1. To obtain Grade 1 in Formation Skydiving (FS1) the parachutist must, be introduced to FS by a CCI/Advanced Instructor nominated FS1 Grade parachutist or equivalent of proven FS instructional ability, have received a full safety brief and demonstrated the ability to: a) Control fall rate. b) Control horizontal movement, (forwards, backwards and sideways). c) Achieve docking techniques. d) Turn in place. e) Dive and approach a target. f) Complete four points of 4-way FS. N.B.(1) No more than one Category 8 jumper per group, all other jumpers in any group must be FS1 parachutists. N.B.(2) Training programmes other than those contained in the BPA Formation Skydiving (FS) Manuals are acceptable for training for FS1, provided all the requirements of sub-para 6.4.1. (above) are met. 25th March 2010 John Hitchen NCSO Tony Butler Technical Officer Distribution: CCIs, Council
  13. i was lucky as everyone paid they own slots on the 4way. The DZ i got my fs1 at coaching was free you just had to pay the slot so yes my 3way cost me 3 slots. if us brits go on a camp to do the fs1 say in spain then it will set us back best part of £900 just for 8 jumps with 1 coach 1 jump with 2 coaches and 1 jump with 3 coaches
