  1. I thought it was a great article. I'm very new here, so it's all a bit too advanced for me to really comment on the info in the article itself, but I'm trying to soak up all the info I need. All of your writing always satisfies my over analytical brain with all kinds of juicy knowledge :) I have to know the "WHY" and you always seem to be ready to give that kind of info. Very helpful. Keep up the good work.
  2. That was quite the typo :D Anyways, this is sort of what I had expected to hear. Learn something every day :)
  3. I can't seem to find the one with the russian guy and the malfunction, and he's swearing at his canopy to open, then cuts it and gets his reserve out. He then starts singing and praising his rigger, I would assume. Pretty good video. Can't seem to find it though :(
  4. Which illustrates the point that it's possible, but not very likely in most cases. Yes, a private individual that owns his own aircraft and decides to take up a jumper for no compensation whatsoever can do so if he chooses. Beyond that it starts getting a bit tricky and rapidly moves into "must have a commercial pilot certificate." People whine, bitch and moan about the FAA and the FARs, but the reality is they don't care about quite a bit until money starts changing hands, then they start getting really serious. My favorite perfectly legal scenario is a dad taking his five-year-old kid up for a night flight near Area 51 and the kid making his first jump ever; night, solo, moa, BLM land. Technically, it could be done legally. That which is legal is not necessarily safe. That which is safe is not necessarily legal. Being new here I'm not sure I'm following how that would be legal. I was under the impression you had to have a class C (or D? I forget exactly) for night jumps? Are you just saying that the USPA isnt actually "laws" as much as "guidelines"? Not trying to be argumentative, just want to be sure I understand what you are saying. I do understand the moral of the story though edited because we all know the USPS has nothing to do with the sport lol
  5. Same here. I'm 6 foot 170 or so, and was using a 240 initially. They have since moved me down to the 220 and I was really suprised at even being able to tell the difference at all. It flys much better though (from my limited experience) Seems to get me back home better if I end up taking my downwind a bit too far :D
  6. Talk about service. I was taking care tonight. Bonehead went above and beyond to make sure I could get a helmet before our season was over. Thanks a lot, Bonehead. Looking forward to receiving my REVOLVE!
  7. Thanks so much! That kite is not cheap holy crap! It's pretty awesome though. It looks like your boy is having a blast. Thanks a lot for the info
  8. I HAVE to know where you picked that stuff up. My kid would go nuts over that... ok I'd go nuts over it, but either way I need to know!
  9. Are these shipping yet? Last time I talked to someone there, they said it would be 4 to 6 weeks for delivery. My season will be over by then. I was pretty excited about this helmet!
  10. Quad City Skydiving www.qcskydiving.com Great bunch of people. I have no idea how the international license works, but I'm sure they can answer any questions you may have.
  11. You called? It's 1035pm, I'm home alone, sitting here after a really great day at the DZ when I read this beauty. I have to say this really completes my day. I can't remember the last time I busted up laughing out loud with no one else around to hear me. So did I really laugh if there was no one there to hear the laugh...? I've been lurking for a while, but I just couldnt resist posting about that one. :D Really made my night. On a side note, competed Catagory D1 and D2 today! No grip exit next! I can't wait! Why didn't I find this skydiving stuff YEARS ago?
  12. It's kinda funny how now, at 28, I make the most money I've ever made, but yet, I have the least "mad money" after i balance the checkbook as I have ever had. Figured that NOW i decide to pick up skydiving...at least it's cheap right... :D
