  1. I love it when people protest those stops. I think they're completely bogus. "Are you a US citizen." "Yes." Ok then, have a nice day." What the Hell is that supposed to do for security? It's really about profiling and "white" people get a casual glance, a quick question to satisfy job requirements, and then on their way. But if someone doesn't go along with this, it turns into a power issue. Good for those that exercise their right not to conform. Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
  2. Not to mention that Orlando is $740hr and Paraclete is $1150hr Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
  3. Yes, I'm reading the SB for the skyhook issue now. But I'm looking to know more about the ring design and any performance issues if they do in fact exist. Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
  4. I remember hearing someone mention miniforce rings having possible release/malfunction issues. I did a search here but found nothing. Has anyone ever experienced or heard of a legitimate eperience of this happening with the Icon system? While I'm asking....any otheer issues with this particular harness? 5. Care to expand on that statement? Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
  6. Oh, I'm not really calling any specific person out. I'm just making a general statement. I think there are definite reasons for both points of view. It's just that sometimes people are snippy for no good reason. Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
  7. I've gotta say, that the "search" reply bugs me most of the time for various reasons. Yes, I'm aware that sometimes a person is probably just being lazy. However, sometimes a person is too new to really know what they are looking for. Sometimes when doing a search, the topic is many years old and quite possibly the techniques and/or technology have changed. Sometimes the poster may just want to engage in some current discussion with others that are also excited about skydiving. After all, it is a discussion forum and not just an archive. If people are that opposed to re-hashing a topic then simply say nothing or suggest a search topic. Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
  8. The list comes out all disjointed when I opened it. Is it doing that for anyone else? Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
  9. It was. Just gathering info and opinions. Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
  10. I realize that also, but I haven't found too many people actually working out the math according to the actual winds. Not saying it doesn't happen, but I haven't been privy to it. Add to that, the various fall/drift rates of various groups on a load, and I'm thinking there must be more of a general "rule of thumb" for separation. So, what do the majority of you use? 11. So what's the general consensus here regarding separation? How long do you all give between groups? Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin

  13. Become well controlled on my belly so I can become the best camera flier possible. Make at least 250 dives Canopy courses and start the journey toward HP landings(nothing crazy though...I'm gettin older) Coach rating, C license, and possibly AFF rating And all the while, learn to freefly with my gorgeous wife and continue expanding this great skydiving family we've found. Cheers everyone! Enjoy 2011 and each other! Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
  14. Bill, Why are you warning Rhys? Did we miss something? Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
  15. I'm sure you're right about who you ask, but at least with the current crop of pros I've met, that's not the case. Not saying it's right or wrong, just making an observation. I also completely respect self-evaluation and "cleaning" up flying skills. I hope I will always strive to do the same. Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
  16. It's the same with a large number of divers that i know as well. Commercial or recreational, I've learned that most of them started between 50-100 skydives, but most won't really talk about it openly so as not to rock the boat. 19. Although it IS a bit gross not changing daily, I think it's a little less disturbing to men. After all, we don't have the clitty litter issues that women have to deal with. Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
  20. Lunken Airport used to have an outfit called FlamingoAir which was a Cherokee Six with a bed instead of seats. Also, when I was doing scenic flights I've had 4 different guys slip me a $50 or $100 extra if i just kept looking straight ahead and ingored any rocking or noise. I was always perfectly fine with that, but explained that any clean up was their responsibility. Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin

  23. This is where Darwin awards come into play. Anyone that watches this video and decides to utilize their AAD as part of an acceptable deployment option, simply needs to be culled from the herd. Seriously though, must we bubble wrap absolutely everything in life? You have to give people the benefit of the doubt in cases like this. 24. Do you mind telling us what you don't like about your CC1? I was looking at those. Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
