  1. I would think you might have noticed, being a finance manager, that this happens during every economic depression we go through. Simply supply and demand, no? More people unemployed => more people with time to kill => increase in prices for all vices. More people taking up skydiving too!

  4. The two Caravans at my DZ each have only 2 lights, but they have large labels next to them too. Red - Don't go. Green - Open door and spot. (some pilots suck)
  5. I feel compelled to point out one little flaw in this poll. No one can see the results until they vote...men AND women. So every guy who can see the results voted. Is there any way to make a poll were you can guarantee only women affect the results?

  7. Hey pojj, you still haven't answered how much you weigh. Students and novice A-License jumpers shouldn't exceed a 1.1:1 ratio. That's 1.1 pounds exit weight (you + all of your gear including the parachute itself) divided by the square footage of your main. If you weigh more than 187 pounds, or 85 kilograms, with all your gear on you should get a bigger chute.
  8. I've had line twists that were so severe, and I was still spinning, that kicking didn't do shit. Only by grabbing the lines above the twists and pulling myself up was I able to stop spinning. Then by pulling the risers apart I was able to untwist it all. Basically, do whatever is necessary, and decide to cut-away or land it by 2.5k (A-License) As far as gear that's less likely to give line twists; Line twists are usually caused by uneven packing, uneven line stows, and body position during deployment. I had line twists a few times when I was begining to jump my own gear. By talking to riggers and packers I was able to improve my pack jobs to prevent it. No problems anymore.
  9. 1st jump at 24, but only really starting to do it a lot now that I make enough money to do it 5-15 times a week.
  10. Congrats Ketia0. Definitely get your own gear ASAP, but $50? Yikes. Even my DZ, which is notoriously expensive, has an "All Day" rental rate of $60 versus $20 per jump. Your DZ might have something similar. Then if you jump 5 or 6 times on a weekend day it would be around $35/jump.
  11. Flitesuit for good quality belly flying suits and lower cost than most; Kurupee for freeflying - highly customizable, and cool. Expensive though
  12. It also might depend on what you're wearing. I've had a few jumps with some gear that was really slick against my belly flying jumpsuit (nylon slides on nylon). If you're not wearing a cotton jumpsuit, and your legstraps aren't tight enough you risk the worst type of malfunction possible...a nut-under!
  13. $10 sounds like a pretty minimal, though cheesy charge. I understand at my DZ they charge tandem's $200 for an 8-10K jump (exit alt. depends on atmoshperic conditions during the actual jump run), and $225 for 10-13.5k. One dollar per second of FF. Ten bucks is much better. They put 4 tandems in a load with 4 to 8 fun jumpers. I've seen many times where a tandem will get out at 10k by himself 'cuz he wasn't willing to pay the extra $25 above the "advertised price." lol
